Earlier this year the Foundation was approached by members of Lodge Menzies Doric No. 890 to assist in purchasing a new wheelchair for one of their Brothers Gary Michie. Gary recently suffered a Stoke which has left him partially paralysed on one side which makes using a standard wheelchair difficult. The new wheelchair has been designed so he can maneuver with the use of one arm.
Gary joined Lodge Menzies Doric in July 1987 when he moved to Western Australia from Victoria. Gary has held the position of Master of the Lodge and joined the District Grand Lodge shortly after becoming District Grand Senior Warden and assisted the District for many years with the support of his wife Gail and family. Gary is very proud of his family and will always have a story to tell of his children and their families.
Gary was a Tiler by trade however when work became hard to find he went onto working in road maintenance which he loved.
Since his stroke Gary has moved to Bethanie Waters in Port Kennedy where they assist him with daily care and therapy services to help strengthen his muscles. Gary would always welcome fellow Brethren who have known him to call in for a chat.
