Since the sale of the retirement village in Menora, in 2009, SMCFWA have increased their charitable giving in the community.

We began this during 2010 and have been building and expanding our giving program since then.

Over the years we have sponsored two dogs through VisAbility. One became a guide dog and was paired up with a lady and the other, due to health issues, became a companion dog to a young girl with Autism.

SMCFWA also provided the funding for a 5 year program to increase the employment and employment skills of the visually impaired. This program has proven to be successful.

Surf Life Saving WA is another organisation that SMCFWA have had a long relationship with. It started in 2010 where SMCFWA provided funding for SLSWA to run their TOAD and Rise - Up leadership camps for youth between the ages of 13 - 17 years. SMCFWA have been providing funding for these camps since 2010 and the current grant will finish in 2021.

During the past two years we have also provided funding for other Youth Leadership programs within SLSWA and SMCFWA are also the major sponsor of the Nipper & Youth Awards.

During this same period we also provided small grants to other community based organisations.

With the end of the 5 year VisAbility Grant, the Board decided to broaden their Grant Program. This saw monies being granted to Scouts WA, RSLWA, The Lucy Saw Refuge, Lung Foundation Australia, Cancer Council WA, The Australian NPC Disease Foundation Inc, just to name a few.

During the foreseeable future SMCFWA will continue with their Grant programs throughout the community.
